Steven Gerrard: Rangers manager set to join Aston Villa
Steven Gerrard is expected to be appointed the new Aston Villa manager on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Villa are set to finalise a deal to appoint the Rangers boss in the next 48 hours, with compensation of between £3.25-4m agreed with the Scottish club for Gerrard and his assistant Gary McAllister.

Gerrard, 41, has been in charge of Rangers since June 2018 and led the club to the Scottish Premiership title last season, ending Celtic's nine-year reign as champions.

I’ve got no gripes with Villa or Gerrard although considering Birmingham is our second city none of the Birmingham based teams have had any success for decades and I suppose you’ve got to respect he’s ambition he was wasted in Glasgow.m.

Yea as I mentioned in my post he got all offended the other week when asked would he leave for another job. Denying it is one thing (of course he would do that) but getting all offended by the question, or at least pretending to be, takes it to another level, so on that basis he has been a prick.

Comes across as a bit arrogant to me? Maybe not a bad thing if you want to be a manger though.

He was all class the way he left Rangers as well, told the fans how happy he was only a couple of weeks ago, not interested in other jobs ATM etc, And when he gets the Villa job cant even be bothered to tell to his players! Ali McCoist sums it up well.....

He and Lampard really don’t seem to have any redeeming qualities that would make them good managers.

Did he do a good job at rangers or did it just become their turn after a long run of Celtic?

Villa are the most brutal dirty team in the league.
He will turn them around abit for sure but like the Spurs squad I just cant see them doing anything to bother unless they both have a full clear out.

I doubt it'll work out for Gerrard but if it does he'll have done a great job.

They're jealous of our success and think they can simply buy their way to it, though, as we've learnt in recent years, success is not easily bought. If he finishes 12th he'll have done well, as they've an overrated squad still aching from the loss of their talisman and captain.

Hope he falls flat on his arse as I do every other non-West Ham manager but he did say some nice things about the club after THAT cup final.

Re: Steven Gerrard: Rangers manager set to join Aston Villa
It’s a good club for him.

They have spent a lot of money over the past 3 years and have underachieved.

It doesn’t say much for Scottish football though when Rangers & Celtic both lost their managers who had just won the league to go to Leicester and Villa respectively.

He will be at Villa for the next 2.5 years and if he does well he will then replace Klopp.

It’s already mapped out.

He’ll improve them - he’ll get them to a top 8-10 side but that’s the ceiling.

Re: Steven Gerrard: Rangers manager set to join Aston Villa
This is more an appointment of who the Villa squad will respect enough to take a bollocking off........never ends well......the players need to realise Grealish did a lot of their work for them, and to stop sulking about it.
